Dear people!

Here´s the official statement about the transformation from DEATH FEAST into EXTREMEFEST... here we go:

DEATH FEAST has constantly been growing over the past few years, but most people don´t know that after our party there every year, I had to always shoulder a little more debts, every year. Imagine you going to work every day for an entire year and finally at pay day, your boss demands that you paying a few thousand Euros instead of the other way round... It ain´t that funny over the years, believe me.

One can withstand that with idealism and love for Death Metal for a while, but at one point it is simply not do-able anymore. People implying the transformation has been a decision out of greed, should actually think about how much bands, logistics, manpower and so on do cost. It´s a fact that a Death Metal/Grindcore festival without any sort of financial sponsorship or subventions can´t be financed these days on a high level like DEATH FEAST. Money´s tight all over, particularly in this extreme genre so it was time to change something.

The EXTREMEFEST is a perfect platform for extreme bands, with its focus on DEATH and GRIND. There´ll be a stage in the party tent which will mostly serve the underground scene so there´ll be a total of 70 bands playing at EXTREMEFEST - bands that should please everyone´s taste.

Surely, some of you won´t like this or that band but let´s be honest, nobody really watches all the bands at a festival and I think we´ll all live with a few bands not to your liking.

I am very sure that in cooperation with Catapult Promotion and our Swiss colleagues we´re able to offer you some real killer bands since all costs like advertising, flights and other expenses can now be shared between all participating partners.

We don´t take anything away from you but we´re trying to still make sure you guys having a great time. And the legendary infamous after show partys at the party tent will remain, also the area and the crew are identical to the Death Feast´s set up.

I´ve been accused of sell-out, betrayal and what-not, but I don´t think that after all these years of lots of effort from my side that´s the least bit justified.

Those who still think they have to boycott the festival after this very statement, well it´s of course up to you, nobody forces anyone onto anything.

Everybody else who do understand the reasons of the changes which had to be made: I´ll see you in July 2012!

I'd like to express my gratitude to all the feasting guests who celebrated one of the fiercest parties of the last 5 years with us. You made the fifth anniversary a real highlight for everybody involved - and that in an absolutely relaxed atmosphere. A big time thanks for your creative costumes, your endurance in the circle pit and your handling of the new situations on the area and in front of the stage.

I also want to thank my crew that has been working until they dropped to make all that possible in the first place. You have my deepest respect.

We received this official statement from Devourment one hour ago:

"Due to circumstances unforeseen and out of our control, Devourment have been forced to cancel our slot at this years Deathfeast Open Air festival in Germany. We are truly sad by this as it is a favorite fest of ours, not just to play, but to hang out and enjoy the whole setup. We truly apologize to our fans, as well as the promoters of Deathfeast for any inconvenience or grief this may cause. We hope to be back in Europe soon."

We're sure you'll understand that it was not possible to present a worthy replacement in such a short amount of time, but we're working hard on it and keep you updated!

• Throughout the whole festival multiple rounds take place, while one rounds lasts one minute. The contestant´s hits/kicks will be measured by an electronic control device.
• Each day will have a daily champion for both categories, hence 3 daily champions of each category will take part in the finals and the award ceremony on saturday.

Gorguts

As you've probably already noticed, GORGUTS cancelled their complete festival tour So now even the appearance at this year's Death Feast Open Air!

Here`s the Statement from GORGUTS Mastermind Luc Lemay:

First, I would like to apologize for this cancellation to your event and for any problems this could encouter in the process of setting up your festival. This decision was not easy to take. After many meetings and good faith to make this situation constructive for the band I came up choosing the option of not participating to any festival this Summer.

The whole idea about Gorguts doing a European Summer festivals tour was born last year with having in mind the release of our new record for the beginning of the Summer. But believe me, we were expecting our record deal to be negociated and agreed on before Christmas or at the beginning of 2011. But as I’m writting this letter, I was not able to sign the contract yet with our record company.

As you know, these procedures can take proportions that we don’t expect and then compromising all the activities around the band. So by not having a record coming out this Summer, with no strong promotion from a label to push our new record, I’ve decided to wait until these parts of the puzzle get solved before hitting the road again with my new band.

Don’t get me wrong, I sincerely appreciate the fact that each of you were interested in Gorguts for your festival but it will be all for the better when the new record will be release.

I’m hoping to work with you in the future.

This year the DFOA festivalground will bid you welcome with aproper facelift! Due to structural changes and tougher governmental requirements the whole area will be arranged in a more clear and compact way. Unfortunately this also means that parking and camping will be separated this time.

But don't panic! Those of you who already experienced our cosy festivalground andour fan-friendly logistics, can still look forward to short waysand be sure we will balance this little flaw with one or anothersurprise!

Who will be at the DFOA for the first time in 2011 - just don'tlet this put you off and simply look forward to a damn greatweekend full of sunshine, beer& death metal!

The incredible MORGOTH are back!

The absolute old-school death metallers MORGOTH celebrate their 20th anniversary and their REUNION in 2011.
We are proud to present you this amazing band at Death Feast Open Air 2011.

The setlist will consequently mainly consist of songs from the “Cursed” album as well as some cuts from the classic 1989/1990 EP‘s “Resurrection Absurd” and “The Eternal Fall“. The band’s line-up for these special shows is almost confirmed by now as well and will consist of Marc Grewe (Vocals), Harry Busse (Guitar), Sebastian Swart (Guitar), Thilo Mellies (Bass) as well as a great drummer, soon to be announced.

Vocalist Marc Grewe comments as follows: “Throughout the next months we will make sure to prepare a great show for us all to celebrate together in 2011. We seriously look forward to seeing old friends, peers and faithful supporters of the band again as well as playing to new audiences during the upcoming string of festival shows”.

First Band confirmed - Grave from Sweden

GRAVE (SWE) returned to the festival after the unfortunate course of 2010.
The band also gets the playing time it deserves. We promise!
 
Here`s the statement:

"2011 marks the 20th anniversary of Grave's epic debut album "Into the Grave" and we are planning to do some special shows during the year consisting of playing the whole first album + eventually songs from "You'll never see.." and "Soulless" depending on set lengths.

A number of festival shows are already in the planning stages and will be announced as they are confirmed.

The first one to go official is Death Feast Open Air in Germany where we will return again in 2011.
After this years appearance with loads of problems with the weather, switching stages etc.. which led to a very short set we were exited and glad to be invited back to do a full headline set on next years edition of DFOA"

News 2011

So, it´s been about two months now since we stood impatiently, in a Hünxe meadow, waiting for the arrival of the lorries that were gonna help us to create your "Bree-Bree City". 3 days of setting up, 3 awesome days of mosh 'n' bree and a sad 3 days of packing up and storing away for next year.
I´d say a big "BREEEEEEE" is in order for the 36 bands that played and would happily come back and play again for us here at Death Feast Open Air.

We´ve seen 4 great years of DFOA come and go. During which the actually still quite young master crew (Woe to he who dares claim otherwise) have gained the odd grey hair or two, pretty inevitable due to the administrative procedures and the, unfortunately, ever-increasing expenses.

Since the last festival we have sat together in a dark cupboard trying to figure out the best way to deal with the rising costs and increasing logistical burden, so that we can provide yet another great festival for you in 2011. Reluctantly we had to decide upon a price increase. But we want to be fair, and therefore are offering the early birds a chance to not have to part with more money.

This means that the tickets between now and the 30.09 will cost 39,-€ (plus booking fees), and from the 01.10 the new price of 49,- (plus booking fees) will be taken into action. Camping and parking are of course still included! This way we can ensure an endless amount of high quality perfomances on the Black Heath!

To round it all up, we wish you a brutal festival experience and hope to get a huge attendance at our 5th year anniversary celebration on the 23.06 - 25.06.2011. Come and get bree'd away!
